Welcome to the Cannonball Run Europe

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Cannonballers will be revving up their engines for the start of the Cannonball Run Europe 2008 at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, Surrey on Sunday 6th July.  Check out the venue on www.sandown.co.uk.  The Cannonball cars will start to arrive at 10.30 and the first car will move onto the starting grid at 12.45 pm with the rest following at 30 second intervals as they head off on their first mission.  Grab your camara, family and friends and come down to soak up the atmosphere and to see us off.  Entry is free and parking is plentiful.  

We will be returning to the UK on Friday 11th July.  The finish line is at The Grand Hotel, Brighton, East Sussex.  The first cars should be arriving there at around 4pm and we hope you will be part of the Welcome Committee.  Be among the first to speak to the Cannonballers as they tell their amazing stories about their 6 day, 3000 mile adventure across Europe."

About the Cannonball Run Europe

The Cannonball name originates from the die-hard adventurer Erwin G. “Cannonball” Baker, the greatest cross-country record breaker of them all. Baker set 143 American distance records, including a 53½ hour coast to coast solo drive averaging over 50 mph in 1933! He died a hero in 1960.

Inspired by the great man and in defiance of the then introduced 55 mph US speed limit, rebellious journalist Brock Yates launched the “Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash”..........read more
